IcfaiTech Fellowship Program

The higher education in the fields of engineering, technology and science has been growing and expanding with a tremendous speed and so are the institutions providing the same. The opportunities and financial advantages available to the graduates in industries have lured them away from going for higher education and research. This has compounded the problem of availability of competent faculty to teach in the ever increasing number of higher technical institutions.

The objectives of the Program are to:

• develop high quality technical teachers equipped with the skills for imparting education at all the higher levels.

• develop bright young academicians with research skills to conduct research and produce excellent output in the form of research articles / patents.

• enable research scholars to develop research proposals and complete their Ph.D. Theses.

• network with the internationally best schools in the fields of science and technology as well as with the leading research organizations to collaborate in doing research.

Program Structure

The IFP of IcfaiTech has been designed after comprehensively reviewing the curricula of leading international schools of technology and science. It covers all the requirements of Masters’ and Doctoral Degree requirements, in addition to having strong modules of pedagogy and research. 

Module-I: Content

The first module helps the students in deepening their understanding of the concepts in the respective fields and their application in solving problems. Through this module, the students take a number of higher level courses that are also required to fulfill the requirements of M.Tech. / Ph. D. Degrees. The module also includes elective courses to be chosen by the students from the fields of specialization of their choice.

Module-II: Pedagogy

In this module, students learn the basic teaching aids and practices required for efficient and effective teaching. They are exposed to various teaching methodologies. They also go through a number of workshops in the areas of soft skills, Intensive Teaching, student counseling and mentoring, student evaluation and feedback, educational innovations, etc.

Module-III: Research

Through this module the students are exposed to both quantitative and qualitative research methods. They also work on advanced projects as well as dissertation. During their third year through Independent Study they create the foundation for carrying out doctoral research by identifying the topic of research and preparing their research proposal. After their proposals are approved, they work on their Ph.D. Theses.

Features of the Program

Integration of IFP with M.Tech. and Ph.D. Programs :

The IcfaiTech Fellowship is conducted in parallel with the M.Tech. and Ph.D. Programs of IcfaiTech, there by saving time for the students. The three modules explained above are integrated for this purpose.

Associateship

During the program the students will be associated with senior faculty members who are engaged in teaching, research, consultancy and institutional development. The objective of the association is to ensure that each student should be thoroughly exposed to all the nuances of teaching, research, consultancy and institutional development.

Visiting Scholar Program (VSP)

After successful completion of the courses and Ph.D. qualifying examination, during the fourth year of the IFP, the students have to spend two semesters abroad under the visiting scholar program in order to get exposure to the teaching and research environment in international context. The students are required to engage themselves in research and teaching under the overall supervision and guidance of senior faculty of the collaborating Institute abroad.

Financial Aid

All students admitted into IFP will be given fellowship as below:

In addition, there is a scope for financial assistance to the students for participating in international conferences subject to the rules of the Institute.

Tuition Fee Waiver

The tuition fee of Rs. 60,000 per semester will be waived for the students for the entire duration of IFP. The continuation of the aid depends on satisfactory academic progress in the Program.

Duration

The duration of IFP is four years. The students enrolled for IFP are also required to simultaneously enroll into the M.Tech. Program of IcfaiTech which they are expected to complete within two years time. During the third year, they would be enrolled for Ph.D. Program which they are expected to complete in about 3 years time.

Eligibility

Candidates should have first class B.Tech. Degree in Computer Science, Electronics / Communication / Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering / Biotechnology or M.Sc Degree in Physics / Mathematics. Candidates holding M.Tech. Degrees may also be considered and may be given exemption from the courses already completed. Candidates should preferably be between 21 – 27 years old.

Admission Process

Admissions are based on IcfaiTech Fellowship Aptitude Test (IFAT) and Interviews.

Certification

All the students who successfully complete the IFP will be awarded the IcfaiTech Fellowship Certificate. They will also receive the Ph.D. Degree from the Icfai University on successful completion of all the requirements prescribed for the same.

Placements

All the students who successfully complete the IFP will be absorbed by IcfaiTech as faculty members at the level of Assistant Professor after four years. On the successful completion of the Ph.D. Degree, they would be promoted to higher scale.
